zekai robert baoInspiroceanZekai Robert Bao is a 17 year old student based in Shanghai, China.
Growing up, he has always been fascinated by the oceans. In fact, when he was on vacation in Saipan, he was almost swept away by the ocean currents when he was swimming. Thankfully, he was able to grab a rope near the land and swam back. This led him to appreciate the power of the ocean and made him more interested in its magic. In high school, Robert became more interested in chemistry, filming and environmental science. He really wants to contribute to solving environmental problems, especially water pollution because many people around the world are suffering from shortage of water, and yet the world keeps polluting our freshwater. Moreover, water pollution not only affects people, but also aquatic lives. To further accelerate his impact, he founded Inspirocean, with a mission to help people learn, through self-produced films and other means, more about ocean and water pollution, raise their awareness. It also provides information about what teenagers can do to support long-term health of the ocean, home to 228,450 known species in the world. In the long run, he plans to study environmental science in college to further investigate interactions between human activities on natural systems on all scales, from the local to the global. After graduation, he aims to work for a global environmental protection organization or start his own research on improving ocean health and saving the environment. |
