maria victoria oliverfrom cocoon to butterflyMaria Victoria Oliver is a 17 year old student based in Stanstead, Canada, and she is a youth advocate for poverty alleviation, with a focus on developing countries.
She grew up in many different places. She was born in Argentina but has also lived in Brazil, Chile, United States, and currently in Canada where she attends a boarding school. Since she have lived in many different places, she has learned to adapt to everything new and know how to socialize with different type of people from all over the world. From her personal experiences living in third world countries, she has witnessed poverty and inequalities up close while in parallel experiencing the wealthy side of things. As such, she always thought to myself how could she use her luck and opportunities to help others going through hard situations. To further her impact, she founded From Cocoon to Butterfly, with three core pillars to: i) CHANGE the path of marginalized children by supporting their personal development through nutrition and education, ii) IMPROVE the physical and mental well-being conditions of elderly who are abandoned or underprivileged and iii) TRANSFORM low-income communities through knowledge, know-how and relationship building. She wants to be known as someone who has helped people or created jobs to help people escape poverty. During her regular visits to developing countries, she sees the life that most people live there not because they want to, but because they haven't been given a chance/opportunity for anything else. As someone who has been given all the opportunities I want to help give the same to others. |
