Leon Miyazaki is a 17 year old enthusiast in advocating for ocean conservation through his DEED framework. He is also the Co-Founder of Alion Global.
He believes that water is the source of life - he is currently based in Vancouver, Canada. The first time he ever jumped in the ocean at age 7. He remembers hating it due to the salt water paining his eyes. Growing up, he enjoyed surfing, when he started liking the ocean water. This was when he started discovering that the waters in the ocean brought him joy and happiness. His favorite subject is economics, as it helps him understand how the world fluctuates. For instance, the other day he wrote down every step you need for a vending machine, since there are numerous steps for this system to be implemented. In some ways, he can see the relation with ocean conservation since this problem is not understandable without digging deep into the core of it. His favorite activity related to water would be surfing - it has been his hobby since he was 14 and he has enjoyed the sport itself and the opportunities he gets when he is in the ocean.
In the future, he would like to study Engineering and Design in university. Engineering has been an interest for him since he was one. He always wanted to make a difference by producing technology that is my creation which would have an impact on human beings. In addition, designing is another passion he had along with engineering. In order to engineer, he always wanted to design his own layouts for a specific product. He looks forward to advancing sustainable design and engineering initiatives towards smarter and healthier communities.
